Festival Hippy

27 Aug

Last month I went to Womad festival!  Some call it a ‘hippy festival’ and I have to say after my first visit there I definitely got that vibe. I don’t think I’ve actually seen so many hippy families in one space at one time!

Channelling my inner bohemian, I chose to wear a lace dress from a brand called RE:NAMED with black high waisted shorts and a lace crop top. I’m still into this whole sheer thing and the weather was perfect for this dress! I also wore gold sandals, a chunky necklace and left my black hat in the tent… #ForgetfulPerson

I styled my hair into loose braids and got dot happy above my eyebrows with blue eyeliner for makeup!

DSC_0303Going all out on the hippy style was Mariette in her amazing vintage charity shop find!

DSC_0239Womad festival is a world music festival, so there were a huge variety of artists, bands and events. In all honesty I hadn’t heard of many of the acts… but that was kind of the beauty of this festival as I had an amazing time strolling around and discovering new artists. It was a nice change from running around and following a timetable, trying to get to every different stage! Instead, it was chilled and fun!

The amazing flags in these pictures are one of Womad’s signature statements and are designed by Flag Maker Angus Watt. Interesting career path  if anyone fancies it?

DSC_0243One of my favourite acts was ‘JusNow’  so make sure you check them out! Their style is a fusion of traditional Caribbean rhythm and culture, combined with the sub heavy sound of the Bristol/UK Underground. Yes one of the producers is from my hometown!

As we were at the festival as press we got to meet the acts and these guys were a blast!

Also check out Nanci & Phoebe who killed it on stage with Congo Natty.

Note*  Womad is also family friendly festival so I would definitely recommend it for anyone who would like to go with children as they have a whole kids area! There were the cutest hippy babies!

Never Under Dressed – STREET STYLE

9 Jan

I got snapped outside the James Long show by Never Under Dressed and was featured on their ‘What the women are wearing at the men’s shows’ page online.

I was wearing my vintage tartan mohair coat which I nabbed at a car boot sale a couple of years ago and knew would come in handy one day! Luckily this Winter it ticked off the tartan trend (one that always seems to come back around) and the mohair trend in one! Never underestimate what you can find at a car boot sale if you are on the vintage hunt!

I was also wearing my Boy London hat which I have customised. Inspired by the Jill Saunders hats, I ordered the netting material online and then sewed on pearls from an old necklace which I no longer wear. I practically live in this hat and frequently get asked where it is from! There’s loads of ways you can customise your own beanies so get creative and see what you come up with!

My T-shirt underneath is Criminal Damage, my trousers are Zara and my boots Topshop. I love the Zara trousers as they feel like leggings but are slightly thicker and have a zip and button, which is great for wearing with tops that finish at the hips. These are now also in the sale online for £17.99!

Stolen from the boy

30 Aug

Why not add a masculine twist to your outfit this autumn/winter by swapping those very last year disco pants for slouchy trousers, paired with an oversized blazer or coat. Oversized boyfriend jackets can be also be paired with jeans, skirts and shorts for a sophisticated yet chilled, chic look.

Love this oversized blazer with sequin shorts.

Three different ways to wear a boyfriend jacket. For more of a street, vintage style throw on an oversized denim jacket.

For a casual look I also love boyfriend jeans with a simple white vest. I think they look great with heels too; Rihanna always works this look to a tee.

During the day I love wearing oversized men’s t-shirts over leggings or jeans. I also have bought some men’s oversized vest to wear as cover ups on holiday. Take that street style to the beach!

Streetwear inspired by ‘The Church’ Autumn 2013

20 Aug

Seen on the runway from Alexander McQueen to Valentino one of my favourite trends this season is clothing which has been inspired by ‘The Church’ . The style ranges From Byzantine mosaic prints and religious patterns, to dazzling jewel adornments, mixed with enchanting gold.

I love all the midi skirts and dresses covered in this print, along with statement street style t-shirts. Below are two of my favourite t-shirt so far by Illustrated people. They would be great and easy to throw on over leggings, with trainers, an oversized denim jacket and a beanie to give a casual daytime look a quirky twist!

I love t-shirts that have this church vibe and also incorporate paisley style pattern too, another Autumn trend!

The t-shirt below I bought in Topman in a large and it’s also covered in my favourite…leopard print! ! I’m loving male t-shirts more then women’s at the moment! I love how slouchy they feel!

I thought why not wear this t-shirt on a night out and wore it tucked in black shorts with my Zara studded heels. Apart from the shoes which were killer, the outfit was so comfy! (No sucking in required!)
