The Essential Cosy Jumper: 3 Ways

3 Nov

Topshop duster coatOne of my key pieces this Autumn/Winter, is my cosy, ridiculously warm, beige wooly jumper. I’ve styled it in three different ways in this post to show how it can be worn in alternative combos!

River Island Hat

Topshop Duster CoatTo add a little detail to this outfit, I wore my black slip style dress underneath, which reveals a little bit of its lace trim just under the jumper. I also wore my (matrix style) black duster coat, added a hat for a splash of colour and finished with black, open toe Zara heels, which I must say are the comfiest heels I have ever worn! I can literally wear them for hours on a night out, dancing away, with no pain! They’re a heel dream.

The duster coat comes with detachable black/emerald faux fur around the neck, which I will be adding on as we move into winter!

Outfit minus the jacket

The material and the roll neck style of the jumper keeps me so warm, it is exactly what I need being up north!

DSC_0748Metallic is still around this season, so here I’ve put the jumper with metallic shorts and black ankle boots. You can always add black tights if it getting too cold for a bare leg, but I always feel I stay warm if my upper body is wrapped up! I wear these boots frequently in the daytime as they’re a great height for walking around and they are also high enough to wear on a casual night out. The boots also have side cut outs, so I like to wear coloured, print or glitter socks for an extra bit of detail.

Metallic Shorts ZaraMetallic Shorts ZaraLastly, my lazy day uni outfit… ripped jeans, jumper and trainers! Let’s be honest here… when you have to be up early and your brain isn’t working, this is going to be the obvious outfit choice!

Zara ripped jeansThe trainers are Nike Flyknits, which I spotted in the Nike store in Las Vegas and had to have after a few wins in the casino!

Nike FlynetsI have also purchased a black roll neck in a thinner material from H&M, which I have also been wearing in all these combos! The thinner roll neck jumper is my choice for when it’s slightly warmer outside.

I hope everyone has had a great start to November and please share this post if you’ve enjoyed!

Product of the week – Raincoats

13 Oct

Topshop

Leeds is rainy, cold and windy… hence, I’m not a happy bunny up here today. The rain however led me to this product of the week! Pastels still look super cute coming into winter and this jacket is perfect for the weather right now.

Topshop – £55.00

For the FellaElvine

My favourite raincoat for guys is the Elvine – Grundens collaboration mac. A slightly more expensive choice, but this classic jacket is 100% wind and waterproof! The mac is available in more colours and also in womenswear!

Elvine – £120.00

DSC_0605I purchased this jumpsuit during the summer and I literally wore it every week! The all in one attire means you don’t have to spend time piecing together an outfit when you’re running late on morning! You can literally just throw it on and walla (voila)! Safe to say due to my morning routine… I wore a lot of jumpsuits! I shot it here with trainers and heels. Trainers I would wear to work and heels on a night out or for dinner etc. VERSATILE!

DSC_0618I’m going to be slipping black long sleeve tops under all my jumpsuits so I can keep wearing them this winter! There’s no reason to not take your summer pieces through to winter if you still like them, just add more layers!

That skiiiiiirt

So I haven’t done a post in a while! I’ve been super busy as I have started a new job, however now I’m all settled I’m hoping to post more frequently!

Just a simple one today… how I wear my Midi Skirts. Two of your wardrobe essentials I think should be one plain midi skirt and one print! They are so handy as they can be dressed up or down and can even be paired with tights in this cold weather.

Me and friends at work always have this thing, where if we are going out we ask each other what type of vibe we are going for.. Dressy, dressy dressy, dressy casual, casual and then we seem to form even more random ones like… ghetto casual, hoe-down dressy… all this to make sure we don’t end up looking like a lost lemon dressed in jeans when everyone else is dressed ‘dressy dressy’ at the staff party. What is it with us girls! All the guys thought we were crazy… and yes I guess we kind of are, we girls right?

Great thing with midi skirts is that they can pretty much be worked into all of these made up ridiculous ‘vibes’! Not that I’ve addressed hoe-down dressy today… but here are a few of my favourite outfits.

First up is ‘casual’. One of my favourite trends for winter is the mohair jumper. I have one in pink and one in blue. They are cosy, warm and so are perfect for the English weather. Simple and easy, a skirt, a fluffy jumper and converse. I’d normally carry a backpack during the day, but if I was going out for drinks after work this red lips clutch is perfect for a splash of colour.

If converse aren’t your thing and you want to dress things up a bit ‘dressy casual’ or ‘dressy’ then ankle boot or heels. I opted for red with the stiletto.

Midi skirts are also great to pair with statement t-shirts for in the day. Below is one of my favourite T-shirts which I’ve paired with a leather jacket. This leather jacket is perfect as it fits under my big coat when it’s raining!

op3
The same can be done with a plain midi if you don’t fancy a graphic print. Here I’ve put on my bomber jacket which I have loved wearing this season.

‘Smart Casual’ – Here I’ve worn the skirt with a black shirt buttoned to the top, some days at work I feel in the mood to dress smart!
op6
Below I’ve added another layer, my colbolt bolt blue knit. I love this colour and it will be continuing on to next season, so get yourself a nice little stand out piece in this blue ready for spring! Layering like this can work with all sorts of colours so try out some different combinations with your own wardrobe and see what you come up with!

‘Dressy’

The perfect top to pair with a midi skirt for a night on the razzle is a crop top. Here I’m wearing a plain black long sleeve, that shows just a little bit stomach with a gold necklace and black ankle boots. I can’t seem to face getting my shoulders out in the cold, so this long sleeve has been my savoir through winter! It’s also not tight, so is really comfortable to wear.
op11
I love matching two-piece sets which have been a big trend this season, but however I say don’t be afraid to clash prints and textures when mixing a crop and a midi! I seem to have fallen in love with velvet this winter! You can get really cool and cheap crop tops and jersey midi skirts online, so if you purchase a few you can mix everything up and have lots of different outfit to choose from! What did we do before Primark, boohoo and Missguided?!
op12
Now I haven’t covered ‘dressy dressy’ in this post. I’m saving that for my new years outfit!

Hope this was helpful and gives you some ideas on how to rock the midi skirt in your wardrobe!
