The Essential Cosy Jumper: 3 Ways

3 Nov

Topshop duster coatOne of my key pieces this Autumn/Winter, is my cosy, ridiculously warm, beige wooly jumper. I’ve styled it in three different ways in this post to show how it can be worn in alternative combos!

River Island Hat

Topshop Duster CoatTo add a little detail to this outfit, I wore my black slip style dress underneath, which reveals a little bit of its lace trim just under the jumper. I also wore my (matrix style) black duster coat, added a hat for a splash of colour and finished with black, open toe Zara heels, which I must say are the comfiest heels I have ever worn! I can literally wear them for hours on a night out, dancing away, with no pain! They’re a heel dream.

The duster coat comes with detachable black/emerald faux fur around the neck, which I will be adding on as we move into winter!

Outfit minus the jacket

The material and the roll neck style of the jumper keeps me so warm, it is exactly what I need being up north!

DSC_0748Metallic is still around this season, so here I’ve put the jumper with metallic shorts and black ankle boots. You can always add black tights if it getting too cold for a bare leg, but I always feel I stay warm if my upper body is wrapped up! I wear these boots frequently in the daytime as they’re a great height for walking around and they are also high enough to wear on a casual night out. The boots also have side cut outs, so I like to wear coloured, print or glitter socks for an extra bit of detail.

Zara ripped jeansThe trainers are Nike Flyknits, which I spotted in the Nike store in Las Vegas and had to have after a few wins in the casino!

Nike FlynetsI have also purchased a black roll neck in a thinner material from H&M, which I have also been wearing in all these combos! The thinner roll neck jumper is my choice for when it’s slightly warmer outside.

I hope everyone has had a great start to November and please share this post if you’ve enjoyed!

For Autumn this year I think my favourite thing is going to be roll necks! I love how they keep you warm, cosy and the fact that they can be layered. I’ve also been wearing them with shorts as the weather has been so in-between sun and clouds lately!

I love the clean lines and sleekness of this top and you’ll definitely be seeing it in a lot more posts in different combos!

When in H&M I also tried on lots of pieces from their new Studio collection, which I would definitely recommend checking out as there are some lovely premium looking garments!

Me and my boyfriend… jeans.

10 Mar

I’ve been trying for a long time to find the right pair of boyfriend jeans and as much as I wanted to find a pair of vintage Levi’s, the fits were just not cutting it! Pairs were either not the right shade of denim, too small or big on the bum, or vice versa on the waist. I certainly had to do a bit of shopping around, trying on mom and boyfriend styles before I found a pair that fit my body shape.  The Topshop Hayden jeans that I picked are super comfy, making a nice change from squeezing into skinny jeans and what’s great about them is that they can be worn from work during the day, to drinks in to evening. For this post I’ve put together three different looks using my new boyfriends.

Dresses over baggy jeans why not? I found this loose fitting white dress in the River Island sale and love its quilted texture and Zip detailing as it gives the dress a high quality feel. I paired it with my chunky gold necklaces, black ankle boots and my essential glitter socks.

The bomber jacket trend is upon us once again and I nabbed this Fred Perry number with tartan lining out of friends charity bag.  To keep warm, I wrapped up in my new ‘Versace esque’ scarf, which is also from River Island.

I carry my LV backpack when working but would switch to my black leather Whistles clutch for the evening.

Metallic seems to have carried over from autumn/winter and was seen on the SS14 runway from Lanvin, Givenchy, Christian Dior, Dries Van Noten and Issey Miyake. My two key pieces are a textured silver top and pointy stilettos from Miss Selfridge. I added a lime green necklace for a pop of colour and pink lips to compliment (‘HEROINE’ by MAC). A splash of colour could also be added with a clutch or jacket. My rings are Pandora and bracelets are a gift from India.

I found this pastel blue shirt perfect for spring in Pull and Bear and layered it with this lime green crop top and green Lego like necklace. Remember crop tops don’t only have to be worn on a night out or on their own, so get layering! I finished the outfit off with blue pointy stilettos (flats will work for a more casual style) and my pastel pink Whistles clutch. If you don’t want to look like a complete fondant fancy this spring with your pastel pieces, then don’t be afraid to add a splash of a bright colour to break things up!

Feel free to comment on this post and I hope it gives some inspiration on creating your own looks with your perfect jeans!

Metallic to Medieval Autumn/Winter Trend 2013

4 Sep

The weather may get dull this autumn/winter but there’s no reason our clothing should! Add a splash of metallic to your outfit to really shine this season by wearing either a metallic skirt or leggings or t-shirt to stand out under your oversized winter coat.

For more of a subtle, simplistic edge why not accessories your outfit with metallic jewellery, handbag, shoes or even nails! The smallest touch of metallic can be incorporated into your own style! Be daring, be different!

Seen on the runway, metallic and metallic embellishment has been mixed with mesh to create an armour style look. Armour takes us back to the dark ages and many designers seemed to have been inspired this season by the medieval times. The medieval trend harmonises with designs that have taken influence from the church and religious prints. This is making me think that maybe some designers have a little Game of Thrones addiction they’re not telling us about? It has been the television programme that has been the hype of popular culture this year in all!
