Thigh High Boots

24 Mar

FullSizeRender[3]Olivia Palmero gave me thigh high boot envy this year and after being ridiculously fussy, I finally found a pair I liked! I went for a medium chunky heel in a black suede, so I can wear them casually in the day and more dressed up on the evening. I did also like a few leather styles, but I felt like the suede material was more understated and reduced my fear of me looking like a stripper…

FullSizeRender[2]The oversized jumper is from H&M and is cosiest thing ever. A cream jumper is great for transitioning into spring and I’d go for one in a long length so you can wear it as a jumper dress. To keep warm, I layered with a black long-sleeve basic and slip dress with lace trim.

FullSizeRender[1]I always wear long socks under these boots to give the illusion that they are slightly higher up the thigh.

My handbag is Michael Kors and adds a little pop of the camo trend.

My beloved hat is Primark and I’ve also added a gold earring to the ribbon!

The Essential Cosy Jumper: 3 Ways

3 Nov

Topshop duster coatOne of my key pieces this Autumn/Winter, is my cosy, ridiculously warm, beige wooly jumper. I’ve styled it in three different ways in this post to show how it can be worn in alternative combos!

River Island Hat

Topshop Duster CoatTo add a little detail to this outfit, I wore my black slip style dress underneath, which reveals a little bit of its lace trim just under the jumper. I also wore my (matrix style) black duster coat, added a hat for a splash of colour and finished with black, open toe Zara heels, which I must say are the comfiest heels I have ever worn! I can literally wear them for hours on a night out, dancing away, with no pain! They’re a heel dream.

The duster coat comes with detachable black/emerald faux fur around the neck, which I will be adding on as we move into winter!

Outfit minus the jacket

The material and the roll neck style of the jumper keeps me so warm, it is exactly what I need being up north!

DSC_0748Metallic is still around this season, so here I’ve put the jumper with metallic shorts and black ankle boots. You can always add black tights if it getting too cold for a bare leg, but I always feel I stay warm if my upper body is wrapped up! I wear these boots frequently in the daytime as they’re a great height for walking around and they are also high enough to wear on a casual night out. The boots also have side cut outs, so I like to wear coloured, print or glitter socks for an extra bit of detail.

Metallic Shorts ZaraMetallic Shorts ZaraLastly, my lazy day uni outfit… ripped jeans, jumper and trainers! Let’s be honest here… when you have to be up early and your brain isn’t working, this is going to be the obvious outfit choice!

Zara ripped jeansThe trainers are Nike Flyknits, which I spotted in the Nike store in Las Vegas and had to have after a few wins in the casino!

Nike FlynetsI have also purchased a black roll neck in a thinner material from H&M, which I have also been wearing in all these combos! The thinner roll neck jumper is my choice for when it’s slightly warmer outside.

I hope everyone has had a great start to November and please share this post if you’ve enjoyed!

Festival Hippy

27 Aug

Last month I went to Womad festival!  Some call it a ‘hippy festival’ and I have to say after my first visit there I definitely got that vibe. I don’t think I’ve actually seen so many hippy families in one space at one time!

Channelling my inner bohemian, I chose to wear a lace dress from a brand called RE:NAMED with black high waisted shorts and a lace crop top. I’m still into this whole sheer thing and the weather was perfect for this dress! I also wore gold sandals, a chunky necklace and left my black hat in the tent… #ForgetfulPerson

I styled my hair into loose braids and got dot happy above my eyebrows with blue eyeliner for makeup!

DSC_0303Going all out on the hippy style was Mariette in her amazing vintage charity shop find!

DSC_0239Womad festival is a world music festival, so there were a huge variety of artists, bands and events. In all honesty I hadn’t heard of many of the acts… but that was kind of the beauty of this festival as I had an amazing time strolling around and discovering new artists. It was a nice change from running around and following a timetable, trying to get to every different stage! Instead, it was chilled and fun!

The amazing flags in these pictures are one of Womad’s signature statements and are designed by Flag Maker Angus Watt. Interesting career path  if anyone fancies it?

DSC_0243One of my favourite acts was ‘JusNow’  so make sure you check them out! Their style is a fusion of traditional Caribbean rhythm and culture, combined with the sub heavy sound of the Bristol/UK Underground. Yes one of the producers is from my hometown!

As we were at the festival as press we got to meet the acts and these guys were a blast!

Also check out Nanci & Phoebe who killed it on stage with Congo Natty.

PEACE!

Note*  Womad is also family friendly festival so I would definitely recommend it for anyone who would like to go with children as they have a whole kids area! There were the cutest hippy babies!
