The Essential Cosy Jumper: 3 Ways

3 Nov

Topshop duster coatOne of my key pieces this Autumn/Winter, is my cosy, ridiculously warm, beige wooly jumper. I’ve styled it in three different ways in this post to show how it can be worn in alternative combos!

River Island Hat

Topshop Duster CoatTo add a little detail to this outfit, I wore my black slip style dress underneath, which reveals a little bit of its lace trim just under the jumper. I also wore my (matrix style) black duster coat, added a hat for a splash of colour and finished with black, open toe Zara heels, which I must say are the comfiest heels I have ever worn! I can literally wear them for hours on a night out, dancing away, with no pain! They’re a heel dream.

The duster coat comes with detachable black/emerald faux fur around the neck, which I will be adding on as we move into winter!

Outfit minus the jacket

The material and the roll neck style of the jumper keeps me so warm, it is exactly what I need being up north!

DSC_0748Metallic is still around this season, so here I’ve put the jumper with metallic shorts and black ankle boots. You can always add black tights if it getting too cold for a bare leg, but I always feel I stay warm if my upper body is wrapped up! I wear these boots frequently in the daytime as they’re a great height for walking around and they are also high enough to wear on a casual night out. The boots also have side cut outs, so I like to wear coloured, print or glitter socks for an extra bit of detail.

Metallic Shorts ZaraMetallic Shorts ZaraLastly, my lazy day uni outfit… ripped jeans, jumper and trainers! Let’s be honest here… when you have to be up early and your brain isn’t working, this is going to be the obvious outfit choice!

Zara ripped jeansThe trainers are Nike Flyknits, which I spotted in the Nike store in Las Vegas and had to have after a few wins in the casino!

Nike FlynetsI have also purchased a black roll neck in a thinner material from H&M, which I have also been wearing in all these combos! The thinner roll neck jumper is my choice for when it’s slightly warmer outside.

I hope everyone has had a great start to November and please share this post if you’ve enjoyed!

A couple of weeks ago I went to see Beyoncé and queued like a mad woman all day to get to the front!!! Firstly the whole queuing thing wasn’t actually as bad as I thought! We arrived at London 02 around 8.30am and there were already a good 20 people there… Gutted. To make things seem worse we got given our numbered bands (which control the queue) and ours said that we were number 75 and 76 in the queue. WHAT! We found out that some people came the night before and managed to get these bands. Sneakeh.

First we had to queue outside before getting moved into another queue inside, where they then called people by the number on their band to move into early entry or regular queue! We had bought early entry tickets for an extra £25 and  these guarantee 200 people in 20 minutes before everyone else. From that point it turned out we were around number 20 in the early entry line, so arriving at 8.30am now didn’t seem so pointless!

The 02 is sheltered, but it was pretty cold, so we were lucky we brought a blanket to sit on and wrap round us. You start to make friends with people in the queue and they save your spot so you are able to have a wander around the 02 and get food, this made the day go by surprisingly quick!

It got to 6.00pm and it was time for us to be let in. We got moved into barriers where we stood in single file and then repetitively got told by security that if you run you get stopped… The barriers opened and I got my power walk on, but the other fans were crazy, running and getting picked up by security! Thinking of it now it was actually hilarious watching everyone trying to slyly run and dodge security whilst freaking out on which part of the stage to get to!

When the power walking frenzy was over  we landed ourselves a spot in the centre along the front row. All the pictures in this post were snapped by me on my camera so you can tell how close we were!

Miss Ivy comes out before the show and picks fans from the crowd to go into the V.I.P areas on the sides of the stage. The girls next to us were major fans and had Beyoncé masks and banners. These girls got picked, so I say if you want this to be you, the more crazy you go and more fan props you have the better!

My least favourite part of the whole day was waiting 6 til 9pm for Beyoncé to actually come on. We were pretty squashed against the barrier and boy did my legs ache!

Her support act was DJ Monsieur Adi, which seemed like an odd choice seeing as his signature sound is French and electro house but he managed to get the whole of the 02 arena going with just him and his decks! We got to meet him after his set, check out his eyes!

Beyoncé arose on stage after a epic visual introduction and was of course flawless… Throughout the night we got to hear several songs from her new album (including “***Flawless,” “Drunk in Love,” “Yoncé” and “Partition”). Queen B did however have one wardrobe malfunction when her skirt came undone and she danced the end of single ladies holding it up like a true performer! She said, ‘I think I just twerked ma skirt off!’ At one point wardrobe ran out and stage to help but she just laughed and gave them the no no leave me head shake!

Jay-z also made an appearance for ‘Drunk in Love’ and the crowd went absolutely insane!  Despite the raunchy song and performance they were ridiculously cute together on stage!

Things got emotional when she sang ‘Heaven couldn’t wait for you’

My girl style crush got even bigger when she came out in this monochrome outfit.

Things got fierce when the costumes involved a mix of leather and plaid. Beyoncé and the dancer’s check shirts even had lyric slogans on the back, making me think I want to customise mine!

Beyoncé was phenomenal live. Her voice, energy, style, dancing, sincerity, rounded up a perfect performance and if I were asked, would I queue all day again? For Beyoncé yes! 100% I would!

Me and my boyfriend… jeans.

10 Mar

I’ve been trying for a long time to find the right pair of boyfriend jeans and as much as I wanted to find a pair of vintage Levi’s, the fits were just not cutting it! Pairs were either not the right shade of denim, too small or big on the bum, or vice versa on the waist. I certainly had to do a bit of shopping around, trying on mom and boyfriend styles before I found a pair that fit my body shape.  The Topshop Hayden jeans that I picked are super comfy, making a nice change from squeezing into skinny jeans and what’s great about them is that they can be worn from work during the day, to drinks in to evening. For this post I’ve put together three different looks using my new boyfriends.

Dresses over baggy jeans why not? I found this loose fitting white dress in the River Island sale and love its quilted texture and Zip detailing as it gives the dress a high quality feel. I paired it with my chunky gold necklaces, black ankle boots and my essential glitter socks.

The bomber jacket trend is upon us once again and I nabbed this Fred Perry number with tartan lining out of friends charity bag.  To keep warm, I wrapped up in my new ‘Versace esque’ scarf, which is also from River Island.

I carry my LV backpack when working but would switch to my black leather Whistles clutch for the evening.

Metallic seems to have carried over from autumn/winter and was seen on the SS14 runway from Lanvin, Givenchy, Christian Dior, Dries Van Noten and Issey Miyake. My two key pieces are a textured silver top and pointy stilettos from Miss Selfridge. I added a lime green necklace for a pop of colour and pink lips to compliment (‘HEROINE’ by MAC). A splash of colour could also be added with a clutch or jacket. My rings are Pandora and bracelets are a gift from India.

I found this pastel blue shirt perfect for spring in Pull and Bear and layered it with this lime green crop top and green Lego like necklace. Remember crop tops don’t only have to be worn on a night out or on their own, so get layering! I finished the outfit off with blue pointy stilettos (flats will work for a more casual style) and my pastel pink Whistles clutch. If you don’t want to look like a complete fondant fancy this spring with your pastel pieces, then don’t be afraid to add a splash of a bright colour to break things up!

Feel free to comment on this post and I hope it gives some inspiration on creating your own looks with your perfect jeans!

New Years Eve Edition

6 Jan

I fell in love with velvet this season, hence the reason why I couldn’t resist this party outfit! The navy blue velvet jumpsuit that I opted for, rather than a dress for this New Year was tight fitting with a plunging neckline and had small subtle shoulder pads.

I felt comfortable with the low V as the rest of me was covered up, however the getting ready process did take a bit longer as I had to adjust two strips of magic tape down each side of my boobs to keep the suit in place for all my dancing activity! Some people may not need the tape but I didn’t want to take the risk of any ‘nip action’ (as most people know how my dancing goes on a night out!) Safe to say it worked!

I used body shop Honey Bronze products on my chest and a little bit of St Tropez the night before. The Honey Bronze products are really lovely as they give you a great shimmer for the evening.

The jumpsuit was from Missguided so I didn’t break my piggy bank for this outfit! I’d definitely recommend it as a ‘dressy dressy’ outfit if you don’t fancy getting your legs out! Missguided do loads of different styles too so you can find one that suits your body shape.

My magic tape aka ‘tit tape’ was from Boux Avenue and my shoes are from Primark.

The handbag which I am in love with and carried on the night is from Whistles. The luxurious leather clutch, can be paired with all sorts of outfits and shades thanks to its contrasting sides, one pink and one black. The classic design of this bag is timeless and I know I will be keeping this one until I’m old and grey.

Handbags are my weakness for splashing out, but as mother would say,
‘If it’s a classic it will last forever!’

I hope everyone had a fabulous night and Happy New Year!
