Customised Military Jacket

5 Feb

DSC_0080I know it has been a while! I’m currently in final year at university so life has been a bit hectic!

So this Christmas I was lucky enough to spend my time in Asia and therefore got to indulge in shopping and bargain hunting in Bangkok and Singapore! My favourites places were the little malls where the shops are simply called ‘The 200 Baht shop’ or ‘The 300 Baht Shop’.

(200 Baht works out at about £4!)

DSC_0086I picked up this military style jacket in a store where everything was uniquely customised. I think it would be pretty easy to make one yourself and customise one of your own jackets, as long as you can get your hands on a length of fringing from a fabric shop!

For my take on the military trend I paired the camo jacket with Topshop embellished jeans, a black roll neck, chunky boots and I added a hat purely because it is SO windy!

kaki_militaire_843103271_north_499x_whiteMilitary style and khaki colours are a key winter trend and were seen on the catwalk by Balmain, Calvin Klein and Isabel Marant. When wearing this trend think army uniform with a feminine twist by adding textures of leather and lace.  Finish with a chunky boot for the daytime or a black stiletto for the evening. Below are some of my favourites pieces on the high street at the moment.

Never Under Dressed – STREET STYLE

9 Jan

I got snapped outside the James Long show by Never Under Dressed and was featured on their ‘What the women are wearing at the men’s shows’ page online.

I was wearing my vintage tartan mohair coat which I nabbed at a car boot sale a couple of years ago and knew would come in handy one day! Luckily this Winter it ticked off the tartan trend (one that always seems to come back around) and the mohair trend in one! Never underestimate what you can find at a car boot sale if you are on the vintage hunt!

I was also wearing my Boy London hat which I have customised. Inspired by the Jill Saunders hats, I ordered the netting material online and then sewed on pearls from an old necklace which I no longer wear. I practically live in this hat and frequently get asked where it is from! There’s loads of ways you can customise your own beanies so get creative and see what you come up with!

My T-shirt underneath is Criminal Damage, my trousers are Zara and my boots Topshop. I love the Zara trousers as they feel like leggings but are slightly thicker and have a zip and button, which is great for wearing with tops that finish at the hips. These are now also in the sale online for £17.99!

New Years Eve Edition

6 Jan

I fell in love with velvet this season, hence the reason why I couldn’t resist this party outfit! The navy blue velvet jumpsuit that I opted for, rather than a dress for this New Year was tight fitting with a plunging neckline and had small subtle shoulder pads.

I felt comfortable with the low V as the rest of me was covered up, however the getting ready process did take a bit longer as I had to adjust two strips of magic tape down each side of my boobs to keep the suit in place for all my dancing activity! Some people may not need the tape but I didn’t want to take the risk of any ‘nip action’ (as most people know how my dancing goes on a night out!) Safe to say it worked!

I used body shop Honey Bronze products on my chest and a little bit of St Tropez the night before. The Honey Bronze products are really lovely as they give you a great shimmer for the evening.

The jumpsuit was from Missguided so I didn’t break my piggy bank for this outfit! I’d definitely recommend it as a ‘dressy dressy’ outfit if you don’t fancy getting your legs out! Missguided do loads of different styles too so you can find one that suits your body shape.

My magic tape aka ‘tit tape’ was from Boux Avenue and my shoes are from Primark.

The handbag which I am in love with and carried on the night is from Whistles. The luxurious leather clutch, can be paired with all sorts of outfits and shades thanks to its contrasting sides, one pink and one black. The classic design of this bag is timeless and I know I will be keeping this one until I’m old and grey.

Handbags are my weakness for splashing out, but as mother would say,
‘If it’s a classic it will last forever!’

I hope everyone had a fabulous night and Happy New Year!
